So where has the team been this week.....

This week Steve has been at BRM Engineering, BRM called on CNC Repair as their CNC repair company of choice to re-align the grinding heads & investigate thier problem of why their part's have been cracking during the finish grinding process. Steve set to work re-aligning the heads and then spent time looking at BRM's process to identify cracking issue's. Within the hour Steve recognised that the grade of wheel was too soft, with coolant that was too weak, in addition to parts being out of round from the hard turning process. This caused the wheel to fill up with grinding swarf. The answer was to reduce the surface speed at hard turning as it was not the bottle neck operation, and introduce an extra wheel dress into the automatic cycle.

Result concentric grind within limits & and a 30% increase in yeild.
